This project aims at improving the efficiency of the delivery of electricity by expanding the generation capacity of the grid. This will be achieved through the construction of a 750 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in the city of Banha, situated some 48 km north of Cairo. On completion, the plant will provide a reliable source of electrical power to numerous households, agricultural workers, businesses and industries. In addition, an estimated 800 jobs will be created during the construction phase of the project, a significant portion of which will go to people in the lower income brackets. An anticipated 600 permanent jobs will be created when the plant is commissioned.
