Situated in the northwest, the 180 km-long Azezo–Metema road provides an important trade link to the Sudan, and makes up part of the Trans African Highway Network that runs from Cairo, Egypt to Cape Town, South Africa. The road also passes through rich agricultural land. Project works will therefore comprise:
- re-surfacing the Azezo–Metema road to asphalt standard;
- installation of drainage structures; and
- installation of safety features such as road signs and markings.
