The project involves the extension of the Ashuganj steam power plant which is located on the left bank of the Meghna River, about 70 km northeast of Dhaka. Two gas-fired units of 150 MW each will be added to the plants' current equipment, including boiler and anciliary electrical and mechanical equipment. The project also includes the installation of 230 kV double circuit 48 km transmission lines and a simulator to train the staff of BPDB.
