The primary objective of the project is promote economic development in the country through a more efficient transport system in the eastern region of Ethiopia. Works will include:

  • upgrading the a 45.5 km Gelemso-Michata gravel road to all - weather asphalt
  • rehabilitation of one bridge and construction of a new 20m-long one
  • installation of drainage structures
  • consultancy works
The upgraded road will help facilitate the movement of important cash crops and enhance access to basic social services, directly benefiting over one million people.
