This project aimed to sustain ad-hoc HIV/AIDS responses through the promotion of a more people-centred and community-based approach. The main project outcomes were increased access to prevention, testing and treatment programs for members of vulnerable populations and their partners; reduced mother-to-child transmission by reaching at least 50% of pregnant women. Through this project, National AIDS authorities developed their AIDS investment plan for a sustainable response up to 2030. OFID support has enabled UNAIDS to address critical gaps in services provision in priority countries and to achieve important results at regional and national level. The implementation of the grant resulted in improved policies, programmes and services provision to fast-track the AIDS Response at regional and country level. The investment by OFID contributed to the sustainability of the AIDS response in the region through addressing critical gaps such as low coverage of prevention and treatment in services provision and contributing to policy development, programme acceleration and mobilization of additional resources to civil society and community response from global financial mechanisms such as the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. This project contribution toward global health make the difference these populations need to get access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.
