The Abary Drainage and Irrigation Project is the second phase in a massive agricultural development plan known as the Mahaica-Mahaiconi-Abary Scheme (MMA). The objective of the second Phase is to bring approximately 37,000 acres of rice-land in the Abary river into full agricultural production. The project has the following components: a) Infrastructure works (secondary irrigation canals; secondary drains; fair-weather roads; all-weather roads; hydraulic structures; and facilities for the MMA Authority); b) Engineering supervision; c) Agricultural development program; and d) Technical cooperation.
