Shaping the future of development
President Alkhalifa represents OPEC Fund at Caribbean Development Bank Annual Meeting
The future of international development in an increasingly uncertain global environment was at the center of discussions during the 56th Annual Meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank in Nassau, the Bahamas, in early June. President Abdulhamid Alkhalifa participated in high-level discussions, bilateral meetings and media engagements.
A key highlight was the “President’s Chat,” which brought together the heads of CDB, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration and the OPEC Fund - Daniel Best, Gisela Sanchez and Abdulhamid Alkhalifa – for a discussion on “MDB Strategies for Uncertain Times.”
Reflecting on the OPEC Fund’s Golden Jubilee year, President Alkhalifa emphasized the unique role of multilateral development institutions in supporting long-term development. He noted: “MDBs must be prudent and proactive as they are uniquely positioned to provide long-term stable financing, enduring partnerships and the ability to stay engaged through economic cycles.”
