OPEC Fund honored as Highly Recommended Winner for Best Investing Solution at Adam Smith Awards 2026

The OPEC Fund was honored at the prestigious Adam Smith Awards 2026 in London in late June as a Highly Recommended Winner in the Best Investing Solution category. The award recognized the successful transformation of our cash and liquidity management, and was jointly received with Citi, the financial services provider, highlighting the strong partnership between the two institutions in delivering best-in-class treasury solutions.

The Adam Smith Awards are one of the highest distinctions in the global treasury profession, recognizing excellence in areas such as treasury transformation, cash management, risk management and payments. This year, the awards attracted a record 635 nominations from organizations across 42 countries, making the recognition a significant international achievement.

The award recognizes the comprehensive modernization of the OPEC Fund’s cash and liquidity management infrastructure, implemented in 2025 by the Finance Department’s Treasury and Back Office teams, in collaboration with Citi. The transformation was designed to support the OPEC Fund's rapidly growing lending operations while enhancing operational efficiency, resilience and investment performance.

The enhanced platform delivers several advanced capabilities, including:

• Same-day settlement across multiple currencies;
• Real-time visibility of global cash positions and payment activity;
• Electronic foreign exchange trade execution;
• Rationalization and consolidation of banking accounts; and
• Automated sweeping of surplus liquidity into highly rated money market instruments.

The award was presented during a dinner hosted by the Treasury Today Group, a publishing and information company, and the award’s organizer. The event brought together leading treasury professionals and global corporations. The OPEC Fund proudly accepted the award alongside international businesses including Microsoft, Walmart and Siemens.
