Austria’s President played host to the OPEC Fund’s Director-General

The Republic of Austria’s President Dr Alexander Van der Bellen played host to the OPEC Fund’s Director-General Dr Abdulhamid Alkhalifa recently, at Vienna’s grand Hofburg Palace.
The OPEC Fund has enjoyed a close relationship with the authorities of its host country since its inception in January 1976. The organization has maintained its efforts to ‘give back’ to Vienna and Austria through various activities and programs, with close to 50 grants extended to Austrian NGOs.
Dr Alkhalifa expressed his gratitude for the strong and positive relationship between the OPEC Fund and the Austrian government and said he looked forward to closer cooperation in the years to come. He also briefed the President on the OPEC Fund’s global development work, including the support the organization provides for renewable energy and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 on affordable and clean energy.
